A regular translation is a translation that is used for unofficial purposes. If you need a translation for official purposes or for correspondence with the government, then you require an official translation. You may have heard it being referred to as a court translation, a court-certified translation, or a stamped translation.

What does an apostille mean?

An apostille is a document confirming the authenticity of an officially issued document. Generally, this is a single sheet of paper where you’ll find numbered points confirming the authenticity of the attached document. It is used for communication with both domestic and foreign state offices.

When do I need a translation of an apostille?

The apostille replaces what’s known as superlegalisation, which in translation means that because of it, we can use an official document without further verification. However, if you need a translation of the apostilled document itself, it is advisable to check with the competent authority.
